GENERAL
The principle of using the difference in the speed of sound waves in different mediums of oil and water, and the phenomenon of attenuation and refraction of sound waves in the course of propagation, can be explained as follows: when sound waves propagate in water, the attenuation speed of their energy is faster than that of sound waves propagated in oil; they can travel a longer distance in oil than in water. When the sound waves encountered when passing through the oil/water interface will change, if the medium is changed from oil to water, the speed will decrease, the greater the difference between the two mediums, the greater the difference in attenuation, which will cause a change in amplitude and velocity, resulting in a large pulse difference and output.
Through the use of two mediums, a difference in sound velocity relative to the sound wave will be produced. A device known as the OMK-08 interfaces will be used to produce a difference between oil and water. The use of sound waves can be detected by the interaction of the oil/water interface, and the difference in wave velocity between the two liquids can be used to measure the nature of the medium and provide a constant output. This is indicated by the following diagram: when a sound wave travels through a medium, its velocity of propagation is a function of the elasticity and density of the medium, and the attenuation of the sound wave is a function of the density of the medium. The density of the medium can be determined from the attenuation of the sound wave.
The measurement of this principle is simple, and the sensor structure is simple, but the detection sensitivity is high. It can be used in several liquids. It is suitable for use as a warning and safety device, and its range of applications is extensive.
