200 m³/h Ship UV Ballast System (BWMS) | IMO & USCG Certified
Eco-Friendly Ballast Water Treatment for Marine Environmental Protection
International maritime regulations (IMO Ballast Water Management Convention) require ships to treat ballast water to prevent the transfer of harmful aquatic organisms and pathogens. Our Ship UV Ballast System offers a proven, chemical-free disinfection solution that is safe for crew and marine ecosystems. Utilizing medium-pressure ultraviolet (MPUV) technology, it effectively neutralizes bacteria, viruses, and microorganisms without producing harmful by-products, making it an economical and environmentally friendly choice for ship owners and operators worldwide.
Key Features & Benefits of Our UV Ballast Water Treatment Plant
-
Advanced UV Disinfection Technology: Medium Pressure UV reactors deliver high-intensity ultraviolet light at 200-280nm wavelengths, effectively damaging organism DNA/RNA for reliable ballast water sterilization without chemicals.
-
IMO & USCG Type Approval: Our system is designed to meet and exceed IMO D-2 standards and US Coast Guard (USCG) regulations. Certifications available from major IACS members (BV, CCS, DNV GL, ABS, LR, NK, RINA, RS).
-
Compact & Flexible Design: Optimized footprint allows for both horizontal (2480x1300x1926mm) and vertical (1150x1150x2490mm) installation, ideal for retrofitting existing ships and new builds with limited engine room space.
-
Automatic Backflush Filter: Integrated auto-flushing filter (Type SJY200) efficiently removes large sediments, zooplankton, and particles (>50μm & high rate for smaller ones)3, reducing UV chamber load and preventing clogging.
-
Energy Efficient Operation: Lower power consumption (27-36 kW) compared to many electrochemical systems. Automatic operation reduces crew workload.
-
Comprehensive System Monitoring: Features flow meters, UV intensity sensors, temperature sensors, and differential pressure gauges for real-time performance tracking and data reporting compliant with regulations.
-
Robust Construction & Components: System utilizes pneumatic valves (DN150 PN10), sludge pumps, and corrosion-resistant materials (WCB) suitable for harsh marine environments.

How It Works: BWMS Operating Principle
-
During Ballasting: Ballast water from the pump first passes through the automatic self-cleaning filter, which removes larger organisms, sediments, and particulates. The water then enters the MPUV reactor chamber, where it receives a precise dose of ultraviolet irradiation, effectively disinfecting it by disrupting the DNA of microorganisms, algae, and bacteria before the water enters the ballast tank.
-
During De-ballasting: Stored ballast water is pumped directly from the tank through the MPUV reactor for a second disinfection cycle (bypassing the filter) to eliminate any potential organisms that may have reproduced during storage, ensuring safe discharge overboard compliant with IMO D-2 standards.
