Marine Sea Water Desalination Desalination Unit
Our Marine Sea Water Desalination Desalination Unit is meticulously engineered to transform seawater into top – quality drinking water that strictly conforms to World Health Organization (WHO) standards. This makes it an ideal choice for ships and offshore installations operating in highly saline marine environments. Capable of handling seawater with a salinity level of up to 38,000 parts per million (ppm), this powerful system can generate up to 60 cubic meters of fresh water per day, with a salt content of no more than 500 ppm. This ensures a consistent and reliable supply of potable water for crew consumption and various operational requirements on board.
The system is equipped with a range of features, including semi – automatic cleaning, comprehensive pressure protection mechanisms, and corrosion – resistant components. These features combine to deliver outstanding performance, exceptional durability, and strict compliance with international marine standards.
Key Features & Significant Benefits
- High – Efficiency Reverse Osmosis Process: Utilizes a single – stage reverse osmosis (RO) process that achieves a desalination rate of ≥98.5%. This high – efficiency process ensures that a large amount of seawater is converted into fresh water, meeting the water demands of marine operations.
- Intelligent Protection Systems: Automatically shuts down the system in case of over – pressure (≥6.5 MPa) and low inlet pressure (≤0.05 MPa) conditions. This intelligent protection prevents damage to the system components and ensures safe operation.
- Semi – Automatic Backflush & Cleaning Function: The compressed – air – accelerated sand filter cleaning feature extends the lifespan of the RO membranes and maintains the system’s efficiency. By regularly cleaning the filters, it reduces the risk of clogging and ensures continuous high – quality water production.
- Real – Time Monitoring Capability: Integrated conductivity meters and flow meters enable continuous tracking of water quality and system performance. This real – time data allows for timely adjustments and maintenance, ensuring optimal operation at all times.
- Marine – Grade Robust Construction: Constructed using corrosion – resistant materials such as SS316, unplasticized polyvinyl chloride (UPVC), and polypropylene random copolymer (PPR). These materials ensure the longevity of the system in harsh marine environments, withstanding the corrosive effects of seawater.
- Energy – Efficient Operation Mode: Features low power consumption, with a total of 22 kW including the boost pump. The motors are equipped with IP56 – rated F – class insulation, which enhances energy efficiency and reduces operating costs.

System Components & Quality Assurance
- Boost Pump: The CHL2 – 40 boost pump, made of SS316, has a flow rate of 2.0 m³/h and a head of 40 m. It provides the necessary pressure to start the desalination process.
- Sand Filter: The sand filter has a diameter of φ250×1350 mm and is constructed from glass fiber. It helps in removing large particles and impurities from the seawater before further treatment.
- Fine Filters: Dual – stage fine filters with 5µm and 10µm fiber filter cores are used to further purify the water, removing smaller particles and contaminants.
- High – Pressure Pump: The RT21.10 high – pressure pump with a belt drive (A750) provides the high pressure required for the reverse osmosis process.
- RO Membranes: The system is equipped with 4× SW30 – 2540 RO membrane elements, which are the core components for desalination.
- Membrane Housings: 4× 1000 PSI vessels are used to house the RO membranes, protecting them and ensuring proper operation.
- Monitoring & Control Devices: Includes a conductivity meter (0–2000 µS/cm), pressure gauges, flow meters, and automatic pressure switches. These devices enable real – time monitoring and control of the system.
- Piping & Materials: The piping system is made of SS316, PPR, and UPVC, which are all corrosion – resistant materials, ensuring the integrity of the system in a marine environment.
