BZF Series High-Efficiency Marine Plate Evaporator for Fresh Water Generation on Ships

The BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator is a state-of-the-art solution specifically engineered for the maritime industry to generate high-quality fresh water through vacuum distillation while the vessel is underway. This marine fresh water generator is designed with a focus on automatic operation, ensuring continuous and reliable control over the fresh water quality produced on ships, cruise liners, and other seafaring vessels. It serves as an essential component for meeting the fresh water needs of crew and passengers, supporting various onboard activities such as drinking, cooking, and sanitation.

Working Principle

The operation of the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator hinges on a well-engineered system that utilizes a combined brine & air ejector. This ejector is powered by seawater pumped from the ship’s seawater system, creating and maintaining a vacuum of 85-95% within the evaporator chamber. This vacuum environment significantly lowers the evaporation temperature of the feed water, facilitating efficient distillation even at relatively low temperatures.

Before entering the evaporator, the seawater is preheated by a plate-type condenser, which extracts heat from the vapor generated during the distillation process. The feed water, sourced from the sea cooling water outlet of the condenser, then enters the evaporator. As it passes between the plates heated by a heating medium (such as steam or hot water from the ship’s engine cooling system), the feed water evaporates at approximately 40-60℃.

The generated vapor then passes through a demister, a crucial component that removes any entrained seawater droplets. These droplets fall by gravity to the brine sump collector located at the bottom of the generator chamber. The clean, fresh water vapor continues its journey into the condenser, where it condenses into fresh water as it passes between the cold plates cooled by the sea cooling water. This process ensures the production of fresh water with a salinity level of ≤6 ppm, meeting the highest standards for potable water on ships.

FAQs

Q1: What is the primary advantage of using the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator for fresh water generation on ships?
A1: The primary advantage is its ability to produce high-quality fresh water through vacuum distillation while the vessel is underway, ensuring a continuous and reliable supply of potable water for crew and passengers.

Q2: How does the vacuum distillation process in the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator work?
A2: The vacuum distillation process involves creating a vacuum environment within the evaporator chamber using a combined brine & air ejector powered by seawater. This vacuum lowers the evaporation temperature of the feed water, allowing it to evaporate at relatively low temperatures (40-60℃) and then condense into fresh water.

Q3: What is the salinity level of the fresh water produced by the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator?
A3: The fresh water produced by the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator has a salinity level of ≤6 ppm, meeting the highest standards for potable water on ships.

Q4: Can the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator be integrated with different heating mediums?
A4: Yes, the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator can be integrated with various heating mediums, such as steam or hot water from the ship’s engine cooling system, providing flexibility in operation and installation.

Q5: What maintenance is required for the BZF Series Marine Plate Evaporator to ensure optimal performance?
A5: Regular maintenance includes cleaning the plates to prevent scaling and fouling, checking the operation of the combined brine & air ejector, and monitoring the seawater and jacket water flow rates and temperatures. Additionally, periodic inspection of the demister and brine sump collector is recommended to ensure efficient removal of entrained seawater droplets.
