How It Works:
The hot water tank is supplied with cold freshwater from the vessel’s hydrophore or pressure tank. The water is then heated using either steam coils or electric heating elements, depending on the available energy source onboard. The system maintains water pressure between 0.36–0.38 MPa to ensure smooth operation and consistent hot water delivery throughout the ship.
Hot water is circulated as needed, and a return interface allows unused hot water to re-enter the tank for reheating, improving energy efficiency and reducing waste.
Piping Connections & Integration:
-
Cold Water Inlet: Connects to the freshwater pressure tank outlet.
-
Hot Water Outlet: Delivers heated water to the vessel’s hot water distribution system.
-
Water Return Interface: Connects to hot water return piping for recirculation.
-
Safety Valve Outlet: Redirects excess pressure to the bilge.
-
Discharge Outlet: Allows for complete drainage during maintenance.
-
Steam Inlet/Outlet: Connects to ship’s steam supply and condensate return.
Certification & Compliance:
This hot water tank is designed and manufactured in accordance with international standards and can be certified by all major IACS member societies, including:
-
BV, CCS, NK, DNV
-
GL, IRS, ABS, LR
-
RMRS, RINA
