Advanced Treatment Process
Stage 1: Primary Separation and Coalescing
Bilge water first enters the system through a seawater pre – filter and a non – return valve into the first separator chamber. Inside this chamber, hydrophilic cone wave plates play a crucial role. They facilitate the coalescence of oil particles, causing them to combine into larger droplets. Due to the difference in density, free oil then rises into the collection chamber through the natural force of gravity separation, effectively separating a significant portion of the oil from the water.
Stage 2: Automated Oil Removal and Backflush
When the oil level reaches the interface level within the system, sensors come into action. They trigger automatic valves (VS1, VS2) to initiate a fresh water backflushing process. This pressurized cleaning cycle uses fresh water to propel the accumulated oil from the separator chamber to the waste oil tank. During this process, the system temporarily pauses its feeding operations to ensure thorough cleaning and efficient oil removal.
Stage 3: Secondary Filtration and Membrane Polishing
The pre – treated water, after the initial two stages of separation, passes through secondary filters for further purification. If the 15ppm monitor detects that the oil content in the water exceeds the allowed limit, automatic three – way valves (VS4/VS5) are activated. These valves divert the water flow to the third – stage ultrafiltration membrane. Using advanced permeation technology, the membrane performs final purification, ensuring that the discharged water meets the strict ≤15ppm standard consistently.
