Marine Electric & Steam Hot Water Tanks | 0.3 m³ Dual-Heating System for Ships & Offshore Platforms

Efficient Dual-Heating Hot Water Tank for Marine Applications

The 0.3 m³ Electric and Steam Hot Water Tanks are designed to provide a reliable and continuous supply of heated fresh water for crew use on ships and offshore platforms. This versatile tank supports both electric and steam heating methods, offering flexibility and redundancy to meet the demands of marine environments. It is commonly integrated with the vessel’s freshwater pressure system to ensure a consistent flow of hot water for showers, galley use, cleaning, and sanitation.

Built to withstand harsh conditions, this hot water tank combines high thermal efficiency, robust construction, and compliance with international marine standards.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Dual Heating System: Can be heated via steam or electric elements, providing operational flexibility and backup.

  • High Thermal Efficiency: Quickly heats water from 15°C to 65°C, ensuring a steady supply of hot water.

  • Safety Compliant: Includes safety valve (set at 0.42 MPa) and thermal insulation to protect against overpressure and heat loss.

  • Corrosion-Resistant Construction: Features a galvanized steel outer sheet and 40 mm thermal insulation layer for durability and energy efficiency.

  • Easy Integration: Designed to connect seamlessly with existing freshwater pressure tanks and ship piping systems.

How It Works:

The hot water tank is supplied with cold freshwater from the vessel’s hydrophore or pressure tank. The water is then heated using either steam coils or electric heating elements, depending on the available energy source onboard. The system maintains water pressure between 0.36–0.38 MPa to ensure smooth operation and consistent hot water delivery throughout the ship.

Hot water is circulated as needed, and a return interface allows unused hot water to re-enter the tank for reheating, improving energy efficiency and reducing waste.

Piping Connections & Integration:

  • Cold Water Inlet: Connects to the freshwater pressure tank outlet.

  • Hot Water Outlet: Delivers heated water to the vessel’s hot water distribution system.

  • Water Return Interface: Connects to hot water return piping for recirculation.

  • Safety Valve Outlet: Redirects excess pressure to the bilge.

  • Discharge Outlet: Allows for complete drainage during maintenance.

  • Steam Inlet/Outlet: Connects to ship’s steam supply and condensate return.

Certification & Compliance:
This hot water tank is designed and manufactured in accordance with international standards and can be certified by all major IACS member societies, including:

  • BV, CCS, NK, DNV

  • GL, IRS, ABS, LR

  • RMRS, RINA
