How Our UV Ballast Water Treatment System Works

Our system uses a proven two-stage treatment process designed for efficiency and ease of use:

Automatic Self-Cleaning Filter:
Removes larger organisms and sediments (≥50µm) through an automatic back-flushing mechanism, ensuring optimal water clarity and enhancing downstream UV effectiveness. The filter operates during ballasting and automatically cleans itself without interrupting operation.
Medium-Pressure UV Disinfection:
Effectively inactivates bacteria, plankton, viruses, and pathogens using broad-spectrum ultraviolet light—without chemicals. This physical disinfection process prevents organism reproduction with zero toxic byproducts, making it safe for the environment and vessel infrastructure.

During de-ballasting, water passes again through the UV unit (bypassing the filter) to eliminate any bacterial regrowth, ensuring discharged water meets IMO D-2 and USCG standards.
