Pre-Installation Checklist:

    • Match chain size to anchor weight (1mm chain diameter per 1kg anchor minimum)

Step-by-Step Installation Process

1. Chain Locker Preparation

  • Measure locker capacity (minimum 10% extra space for chain movement)

  • Install protective lining (UHMW polyethylene recommended)

  • Ensure proper drainage to prevent seawater accumulation

2. Chain Stopper Installation

  • Mount forged steel stopper with backing plates

  • Torque bolts to manufacturer specifications (typically 300-500Nm)

  • Align with windlass gypsy for straight lead

3. Anchor Roller Configuration

  • Position roller at optimal bow angle (30-45° from horizontal)

  • Verify clearances (minimum 3x chain diameter)

  • Install chafe protection at contact points

4. Chain Threading Procedure

  • Use chain hook or messenger line for controlled feed

  • Maintain tension during deployment to prevent kinking

  • Apply temporary lubrication during installation

5. Anchor Connection

  • Preferred method:

    1. Anchor shank → 2. Heavy-duty bow shackle → 3. Swivel → 4. Chain end link

  • Secure with:

    • Mousing wire (stainless steel)

    • Double-lock stainless steel pins

    • Anti-corrosion paste on threads

6. Final System Check

  • Test windlass operation through full cycle

  • Verify chain marks are visible and legible

  • Confirm proper stowage in locker (figure-8 pattern)
